Ever since the very day Favre retired from the NFL in March, questions quickly sprung up about whether or not he had truly said his final goodbye. The tear-filled press conference convinced a lot of people he was finally done with the game, however, there were skeptics...
It was the tears that fooled me...

You're lying if you say this wouldn't get you excited
Personally I couldn't look past the tears and i was convinced that, as a Bears fan, I was done dealing with #4, but I couldn't have been more wrong. For months on end sports fans have sat through this "will-they-won't-they" type of dance between Brett and the Packers, but this week it went to a whole 'nother level. When Favre asked to be released from his contract with the Packers, there we're undeniable feelings of curiosity, excitement, and fear all at the same time.
Curiosity of what would become of Brett's legacy if he were to take snaps for another team to end his career. Brett's statistics don't lie, and it may be hard to realize it QBs like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in the picture right now, but it is very likely that Brett will be one day thought of as the greatest quarterback of all time. Other than his short stint in Atlanta, when you think Brett Favre, you think green and gold.
Excitement because, guess what, there would be a Hall of Fame Quarterback on the market. In Chicago, it's been nothing less that sports torture having to deal with the ups-and-downs of Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton. I love the guys, you have to trust them if their going to run the offense, but Chicago hasn't had a top-flight quarterback running the show in decades. I know there are those people who only refer to Brett as the "enemy," but there no place other than sports where someone can transform from the enemy to your hero.

And although there is the possibility of Brett coming to your home team, there's still a pretty big chance he won't. Even if you exclude the Patriots, Colts, Bengals, Cowboys and other teams with Top-10 QBs, the odds are against you. Being in Chicago, the biggest fear is that Favre will trade in his green and gold jersey for a Purple one. If you look at it realistically, when Brett asked to be released from his contract it was so that he could go to any team he wanted. You KNOW the Packers weren't going to trade him to Minnesota, but if he can find his way out of that contract, you'd have to realize that him becoming a Viking is a strong possibility. The Vikings are ALREADY favored to win the NFC North with Tarvaris Jackson quarterbacking them, but with Brett Favre, they'd be in instant Super Bowl contender. And despite what good could be, THATs' the fear that I just can't help but feel.
